I think my baby has cradle cap. She has lots of dry skin on her scalp. What should I use? What worked best for you?
Mustela Cradle Cap Shampoo for Newborns. It's GREAT. And yes, it's a little pricey, but a little goes a long way, my bottle lasted a long time, and that was with using it every day to every other day. Make sure you are washing frequently, no less than once every two days. It's very gentle, and doesn't irritate the eyes. Cradle cap is actually CAUSED by an over production of oils (due to hormones in the baby's system) so baby oil will make it LOOK like the flakes are better, but it doesn't actually treat it.
I used warm coconut oil. I let it sit on my LO's head for a few minutes and then used a comb to comb off the dead skin. Sometimes you have to do it more than once to get all the dry scalp skin off. I only had to do it once. I really think the longer you leave the oil on for, the easier the dry skin comes off:)
I have the same prob . so I talked to my MIL (nurse for PEDI) and she said, BABY OIL . :) Use a lil baby oil, (rub in good with your finger tips or brush) and let it set about, 10 min BEFORE you wash babies hair. :) DO this EVERYTIME you wash babies head (and wash babies head about every day) and within about a week or so, it should go away . :) Its just dry scalp and a mixture of unwashed soap . whether baby doesnt sit still or what, but this will do . :) LO's head is already clearing up .. :)
Quoting caro100:
Scrub your babies head gently with washcloth and then apply baby oil daily.
I always did it before I washed LO's head, because I hated the greasy feeling it left. :/
