I have a beautiful Maine coon named cassanova who's coloring is kind of like those white lions... Anyway he has a ton of fur and it's so hot out, I think it would be really cute to give him a lion cut for the summer... DH says its cruel.... I think it's be cute and help him stay cool in this Kansas heat.... Thoughts?

Although I don't know how much cats like getting shaved....BUT he might enjoy it because he won't be so darn hot and if he gets to hot he could die of heat stroke.  My SIL had a dog die from it.  Something to consider.

I've known people to shave their long hair cats that way. It looks goofy and embarrassing for the cat but they probably don't really care. LOL If he is getting overheated go for it.

Im not sure how accurate this is but I read online that cats have their own natural cooling system and when you shave or cut their fur it throws it out of whack. it is a cute idea though. call the vet and see what they say..if they say its fine then i say go for it

IDK but if you do it then your going to have to worry about sunburn.  The reason people who pick crops in the nnon day sun wear long sleeves is because its much hotter to have the skin exposed directly to the sun........I wouldn't do it

This is correct. Also...shaving a cat is traumatic for most. The vet had to shave one of ours once and it wasn't pretty. Most cats are terrified by the noise of the clippers and have to be restrained. I wouldn't do it if it were my cat.

If you're cat is a indoor cat go for it. Come to think of it people shave their dogs and they are fine out side. Go for it
