Colorado Shooting

So I think we can all agree that this was a senseless tragedy that ended 12 lives too soon. I don't think anyone in their right mind would dispute that. I have a problem with what I'm reading in the news reports though. A set of parents took their four year old and four month old to a midnight showing of 2 1/2 hour violent film. WHY? Why aren't your kids tucked safely into bed at that time of the night. We need to stop exposing our children to such violence at a young age.
Before anyone points it out, I KNOW this is completely beside the point these babies could have been injured or killed but why we're they there in the first place?
I would like to hear some opinions. Let's try to be kind.

A PG-13 movie is great.....at a reasonable hour. My daughter was up past midnight once, and not by choice, we were stuck after a drive in movie to see Cars 2. And we had to wait FOREVER for a tow truck to get in to get us. She was so grumpy and upset, she was crying over the smallest things. And this was when she had just turned 4.
There for, I would never purposefully take my 4 year old or any child under the age of 13, to a midnight showing that wouldn't be over till 2 or 3 in the morning. Ridiculous.

Sometimes people take kids to midnight viewings because they sleep through it. Its the only time parents can go sometimes. Just because you don't live your life that way doesn't mean they are doing a poor job parenting. Looney Toons was a pretty violent cartoon even though no bloodshed and they tried to make it "funny".

One thing I can't stand is when people take their children to a adult movie. I don't care if it is the first showing of the day or the last. I don't care if you think your child will sleep through it. I pay money to go see a movie and I don't need your kid being loud during the movie. I think it is rude and inconsiderate of people to do that. I have a 5 year old and would never bring him with me to see an adult movie. He would be bored within the first 5 minutes. If I can't get a sitter then I will just have to wait until it comes out on dvd.

This has always been my feelings even before what just happened. My heart goes out to all the victims and their families!

See this is my feeling too. My brother works at a theater and sees all kinds of people bringing their terrible children into shows. I'm sorry but no matter how much you wanna see the new Friday the 13th flick you don't bring you 5&7 year olds with you. This actually happened and every freaking five mins their mom said 'cover your eyes'. Stupid.

Sorry your son can't behave in a movie but SOME of us teach our
Children respect and I know my 3yr
Old does VERY well in a movie better then most adults. So before you go assuming that all children would act like yours don't because I know my son knows better. And as for the movie how many of you took your children to see Harry potter or anything? Or hell how many of you take your kids to a mall or park this could have happened anywhere! It just so happened when this guys life got ruined this was the next big thing happening. I think this post is uncalled for and you should be ashamed. The mother is fighting for her life and don't even know her daughter is no longer here and all you can do is start a post of how you think she's a bad parent for allowing her daughter that may have LOVED these movies to go see an extra special movie. Midnight showings are fun because people dress up ect and it's summer!!

Where in my post did I say that my child can't behave in the movies??? I am not saying all children are like that. I am going by my experience in the movies. Even if the child is well behaved I still don't think its ok to take a child to an adult movie.

This post is suppose to be about taking your child to a late or adult movie in gerneal.

As was one of ours in Colorado many years ago. Then of course there's the Columbine shooting. And let's not forget the guy that welded himself into a homemade tank and went on a rampage mid day in Granby, CO. It can happen anytime, anywhere.
