I had my baby wednesday morning. He was 5 pounds 13 ounces and 19.5 inches long. He doesn't fit very good in his car seat. He just isn't long enough. The crotch buckle and the chest buckle are longer together then he is. The chest buckle cuts into his chin. Also I can't get his head to stay back. It just flops forward. What can I do about this? While we were at babies r us today we bought a head brace but it doesn't keep his head from going forward. If I have to wait for him to get big enough to ride in that car seat, I'm going to be home bound for quite a while.

Thanks for the help. I thought the incline sounded like the problem. Ill look into that tomorrow. I'm gonna look into blanket rolls too.

we used the rolled blanket tricks with my dd, she was 6 lbs 10 oz but our car had a small backseat and we just couldn't phyisically get the car seat to go back as far as we needed it to.
Quoting AM-BRAT:
Don't add anything to the straps that didn't come with the seat op.
There are rolled blanket tricks which *I* am mo good at explaining.
PLEASE head over to the car seat safety group and they can give you all the tips. :)

My son was like that 5lbs 15oz and they have these things that go on the shoulder straps to help keep the head back. Are your seats in your car buckets?
