Hello, Everyone. I have done plenty of reading here, but this is my first post. It's a pretty small issue, but I wanted some opinions. I have two toddlers that have a sitter who comes to the house a couple of days a week to watch them. She is a great sitter, and we are lucky to have her. She gets to our house pretty early, and has been using our coffee maker to make coffee in the morning, and drinking it out of an open mug. Being the worrier that I am, I am concerned about the possibility of burns. I came up with the idea of buying her a travel mug to keep at our house and have her use when she wants to drink coffee. Am I being unreasonable? What are the chances she will find this offensive? Has anyone else done this?
Thanks :-)
same here, but I have 2 sons...!

That's not something I ever worried about. I just taught my girl from an early age to not mess with what wasn't her's and that included my coffee cup. I also never babyproofed either though.

I never thought about it, I always drank out of an open mug by my DD but at that age they are very curious. I always told my DD to stay away from my mug, I'd say "HOT!" and she learned not to go near it, it only happened like twice. I do understand your concern so just be honest about it. I think all of us moms have had some kind of fear like this when other people watch our kids, so just be honest and maybe ask what she does to keep the kids away from the hot coffee.
I drink coffee from an open mug. I babysit and have kids of my own. I haven't burnt anyone yet.
If you insist on this idea, put the blame on yourself. *I* was drinking coffee and little Suzie grabbed my cup and dumped it. I think ALL of us adults should switch to travel mugs until she stops grabbing at things.
I would find that to be extreme. If shes a good sitter, she will take care to keep the mug out of the reach of the children, and hopefully you aren't leaving them with someone who isn't a good sitter. Do you use open mugs around the house?
