Nancy Drew, or the Hardy Boys.  The Magic treehouse is good.  I loved Judy Blume and Zilpha Keatley Snyder at that age.  I also read books like Where the Red Fern Grows, and a dog called kitty.  at that age.

When I was that age I loved "Little House on the Prairie," "Heidi," and "Anne of Green Gables", among others. More recent series that I've read (for a teaching class) that are really great are "Series of Unfortunate Events," "Ella, Enchanted," and, of course, the Harry Potter series.
