My husband doesn't check his pockets before laundry

Yes I could check them, but it seems like an extra task for me, and I'm unenthusiastic about grabbing some of the stuff he puts in his pockets when working in the garage or outside anyway. I've joked about how clean his fold up knife is now, I've told him seriously that the metal items damage the clothes in the laundry and can damage the machines. Shall I just go ahead and take on the check the pockets task?

I like this rule- only he is savvy enough to remove money and mainly leaves bolts, knives.

*sigh* I guess.  And it is a minor thing.  Just a nuisance because it does slow me down. I like to just grab and dump the laundry into the washer, now I'll have to carefully check.

I would just check the pockets if he refuses to do it himself. It's better than possiblly ruining your other clothes or the machine.

Checking my ex's pockets before laundry was not a problem for me.  He often left money in those pockets and my laundry policty was once I was getting it started whatever was in the pockets was mine.  I've come away with getting "paid' $50 for doing laundry.  nope cleaning pockets was never a problem.

I keep anything $10 or under & he knows it. :) But I always check ALL pockets before washing stuff. If he wants to keep the money he checks his own pockets lol. He's gotten pretty good at it too :( I haven't gotten a 'tip' in awhile now.

I've never NOT checked pockets. But I HATE checking his work pants. He is a welder and his clothes get filthy. I hate reaching in dirty pockets. Ugh

You know what I used to do?  We had a rule...whatever Mom finds in the laundry is HERS.  So,  I'd put a five or ten in my DH's pocket when I pulled his pants out of the dryer and say, "Cool!  Look what I found in your pocket!"

After I 'found' money the third week, he started checking his pockets.  So did my DD.

Keep his knives.   When you get a nice collection, take them to the pawn shop and get some cash.  When he runs out of knives, he runs out of knives.  As for the bolts...my DH does that, too.  I just put them back in his pockets.

randomly wash all this stuff in one washer and dryer load and then leave everything as is in the pockets. when whatever got washed within is all messed up maybe he'll get wiser.

I always check.  But finders keepers on any money.  do you know how many times hubby puts stuff in his pockets, like work badge etc...
