My husband doesn't check his pockets before laundry

Posted by   + Show Post

Yes I could check them, but it seems like an extra task for me, and I'm unenthusiastic about grabbing some of the stuff he puts in his pockets when working in the garage or outside anyway. I've joked about how clean his fold up knife is now, I've told him seriously that the metal items damage the clothes in the laundry and can damage the machines. Shall I just go ahead and take on the check the pockets task?

I learned the hard way to check pockets. I washed his brand new cell phone. Yeah...we were not happy after that...lol.

I tell DH he needs to remember to check his pockets before I wash them. He works in the oilfield and his coveralls are covered in oil and grease. I barely want to touch them, much less stick my hands in the pockets.

Good idea!!! I'm gonna put a piggy bank on the dryer!!

Lol, I have a piggy bank near the washer. Anything a dollar or under I keep. It goes straight into the piggy bank, dh calls it my housekeeping tips. I probably have about a hundred dollars or so every year, and its just for me to spend how I want to lol.

1 mom liked this

I check all of the pockets and get to keep anything I find in them! We call it payment to the laundry fairy!

I have an idea- stop doing his laundry.  No, I mean it.  Stop doing his laundry and then you don't have that problem anymore.  LOL  A few days of wearing clothes for the second time and he will stop doing it.

This is also one of the reasons I do all our laundry separate.  Not because of DF, but the kids.

I wasn't when we had our old machines (they died of old age... lol) I wasn't checking pockets and accidentally washed and dried a pen and a crayon (on separate occasions). I check them now. I even keep an old mug in the laundry for the money I find from time to time.

My hubby doesn't check his either.  I squish the pants to see if there is anything in them.  I've washed several receipts b/c I don't stick my hand down in the pockets.  Oh well......and if there is any money it goes in my laundry jar!

I talked to my husband yet again this evening about the importance of not leaving stuff in pockets.  He says he understands. So I'll check the next couple laundries anyway.
