Help! Lice :(

Has anyone had to deal with Lice?  My dd had lice back in June.  I did everything I was suppose to do...this past weekend dd had lice again!  What am I doing wrong?  Does anyone have a remedy they use that isn't Rid or Nix?

There's a bazillion things to try but ultimately the strong drugs are best.

I've had it almost everytime I was exposed.

I'm dreading the kids getting it.

my daughter got it last year..not fun!!

i wish i remember what the stuff i used was called.......but i dont..either which way, i had to mix it with conditioner, gobs and gobs of conditioner!! leave it on the head for 45 minutes, then rince out, and comb thru.   wash all sheets, jackets, backpacks, pillows, scarfs (anything that is used on the neck area) and put all toys, stuffies, etc in a bag and then in the freezer for 3-4 days

If it's been a couple of months, you may have them again rather than still.  It might be a new case.  I would check with the teachers at school, and I would discuss with the principal why your dd keeps coming home with lice.  Seems like the kids need to be checked by the nurse.

All 3 of my children had it last year because my oldest brought it home from school. I've used Rid and it worked great, I also made sure to wash everything with very high heat in the dryer.

OMG. My DD had it. Twice this summer. Use mayonnaise. After you treat with the shampoo and comb out cover her head in mayo. Wrap in saran wrap and leave it in over night. You'll have to use dish soap to get the greasy feel out but so far that worked for us. The mayso suffocates them. If you can't leave it in all night do it for a few hours and heat it with a blow dryer. Also add a little tea tree oil when you shampoo her head. Everytime you wash her hair for a few weeks. It smells ok and is really good for the scalp and it repels lice. All these things have worked for us!!

it's not that your'e doing anything wrong...lice travel and can reinfect at any time...tea tree oil is a good thing to put on hair to repel lice

My girls and I were getting horrible rashes from even the gentlest lice shampoo as we battled lice for MONTHS. I was frustrated and at my wit's end by the time someone told me about the Robi Comb. It's an inexpensive battery-operated comb that you run through their hair and whenever it encounters a nit or a louse, it gently zaps the thing to kill it and combs it away. Doing that and then bagging up all the soft surfaces and stuffed animals around the house, etc., like you normally do helped us to get rid of the buggers for good. Plus, because the Robi Comb is reusable and safe, I was able to check them every day when they got in from school and catch any new lice that may have hitched a ride on them from others at school to keep them from getting infested again. It is AMAZING!

Did you do her hair multiple times a week or so apart.  You have to sit and pick out the nits.  That comb is useless really.  Does your dd have long hair?  If so it is hard to kill them without cutting the hair.  My dd had it when she was 5. She had super short hair and it took a month to kill it. I washed her sheets every single day for a month.  She never sat on the couch either.  She said on the floor or in a plastic rocker where the eggs wouldn't lay.  It was one of the worst months of my life.  My dd is 21 and still remembers the hell of me picking out nits for hours each night.  LIke I said, her hair was only about an inch or so long.  Very short hair cut.  Any stuffed animals and such need to be in plastic bags for a couple months

Yes, coat her hair in Vaseline, leave it in overnight, they will suffocate and die. Before you wash it, rub it down with dish soap, then add the water, to take it off. Its a little hard to come off, but its better than lice, and it works in long hair.
