Clean the grease off of the top of a black stove and off of the cast iron grates????  I can't seem to get it clean!  Any ideas?

Use billo pads with dawn and water, you don't have to get all the grease off if it is cast iron, it does need to stay oiled a bit or it will rust.

The grates aren't as bad as the stove itself, will a Brillo pad scrape the enamel off?

I use copper scrubbing pads, or a cloth soaked in vinager

Make a paste of baking soda and water and rub it on. Then let it sit for about 30 minutes and wipe it off. It works amazing as an oven cleaner too. Plus it's all natural and costs just pennies. Good luck.

Are you talking about the glass top stoves. Don't use a brillo pad. Pour vinegar and a little water let it sit or soft scrub.
