Advice for Moms Advice for Moms

What are thoughts about starting my 3 1/2 year old dd in martial arts?  I am indecisive about it, dont know if she is too young, should wait, or see if she can become something great at it.

Thoughts?

I would start with gymnastics... it's like the gateway sport because it teaches almost everything you would need in any sport (with the exception of teamwork).  We have our oldest son in gymnastics until we think he is mature enough to take martial arts without "practicing" on his little brother lol.

You could give it a try and see if she likes it.  If she doesn't, maybe wait awhile.

And it also depends on the kid.  Our instructors don't keep every five year old that comes in for the free first class.  Some of them don't have the attention span or the discipline.  Others take it very seriously and do great.
