stuffy 2 yr old...what to do?

Posted by   + Show Post

My son has a cold and is really congested.Any tips on how to help him? I have the johnsons vapor bath soap but it doesnt work to well and the vicks baby vapor rub irritates his skin which bothers him and trying to use the little suctioner for the mucus is redundant because he ends up crying which makes more mucus.i just feel so bad for him because when he tries to sleep its hard for him to breath.

Yep but its very small doses that they don't actually list on the box.  My dd started taking it at 13 months because she was having serious problems with eczema and her ped recommended it.

They make a vic's stickthing that works like smelling salts.. steamy bathroom, warm bath wipe his nose with washcloth while in the tub. My mom used to boil water or turn the sick on hot have me hold my head over it with a towel overme. I was 5 and on up I've still done it. sometimes boiling water on the stove  can help the whole house or use a teapot.

I use babycomfynose to suck out the boogies. It works wonders and is less invasive. Also I use similasan cold and mucus relief, another must have in my opinion

Try propping up one end of the mattress while he sleeps.

I understand he doesn't want anything in his nose, but some saline spray would work wonders.
