Should I be concerned?

My dd got sick a few days before Christmas. Bad cough, extremely sore throat, congestion, that sort of thing. By the day after Christmas, she was feeling so bad, we went to the dr and they gave her an antibiotic and a steroid. So now here it is over 2 weeks after she first got sick, and the cough is better and the sore throat is gone, still some congestions and a little bit of a cough, but in the last few days she has been so tired, much more than usual. She doesn't want to do much of anything bc she is so tired. She is going to bed early and still wakes up tired, is having trouble going to school bc she is so tired, and I'm wondering if I should be concerned. Do you think I should take her back to the dr or wait it out and see if she feels better in a few days? She is 13 years old.

Sounds like the viruses that are out there. It is nasty and taking a long time to get rid of it.

Thanks for the advice. I kept her home from school today bc she was just so tired. I will see how she does in the next couple of days and then if she is still exhausted, we will go back to the dr.

Sounds like mono to me.  I would not wait more than a day just in case it is more serious.

I'd wait it out if it were me.

If it is mono, is there anything they can give her to help with the fatigue?

She'll need more antibiotics, but the fatigue can last for weeks. She will just need rest.
I had a friend who was out of school for 3 weeks.

I'm planning on taking her back to the dr tomorrow. I hope it's just mono. My anxieties are kicking in and I am starting to worry that it's something more serious than mono, like maybe cancer. I know i am overreacting, but I can't imagine where she could have gotten mono, and some of the symptoms are very similar, and my mind just starts going to the worst possible scenario.
