There's a "trying to conceive" group here on CM--might want to check it out.

Depends on how long you've been trying to conceive.

Yes.
Tried for 2.5 years with no success.

My OB reffered me to a Fertility doctor who prescribed me CLomid, for 6 months.
It worked, made me ovulate, but then we found out hubby had issues too. SO we tried a couple IUI's and they didn't work. So we gave up.

Usually, like PP said, they will start you on a drug called clomid to stimulate ovulation. Then if that doesn't work, they will do a test (can't remember the name) where they insert dye into your cervex and do an ultrasound to see if your falopian tubes are open and you are able to ovulate. Depending on the results, you will probably talk to a fertility Dr.

They typically won't even start all this till you have been trying for over a year.

We didn't 'not try' for a year then really tried for a year then I saw a DR - he wanted to test my husband first.  My husband refused.  Another year later, I threatened to leave him if he didn't test, he did and he was fine.

I have a history of heavy bleeding & severe cramps so my DR checked for endometriosis.  I was diagnosed & treated for stage iii endo but after another 3 months of ttc, I was referred to a specialist who determined, given my history, chlomid would not have worked for me so we went straight to IVF.

Most folks I know were able to try Chlomid 1st.

Me too.

I'm trying NOT to concieve, so I'm using the OvuView app.  There are a lot of testimonials about women avoiding pregnancy until they're ready, then being able to get preggers right away.  It's a really accurate app.

I would also try the TTC group on here. :0)
