I asked people to wait 2 weeks, that weren't family or very close friends.

Call first if you are not sure--here it was a non-issue. With #1 we were haying, so we were out the day we came home hauling hay, with #2 we were combining, so we were out as soon as we were home again, and #3 was born during branding season, so everyone was at our house when he was 4 days old. Not the norm everywhere, but pretty common here--and they all had lots of neighbors wanting to cuddle them for a while.

Best friend? In the hospital or a day or 2 after she comes home? How close friend?? We did not live around family. Good friends and some co workers, who worked next door to the hospital, came to the hospital.

It depends on her and you're relationship with her. Some people don't want to be bother right after, others are more than happy for the company. Call her and ask. I'm sure she has already had to talk to someone else about visiting too.

1-2 weeks, but call first. You could also just say you want to drop off dinner for her, then see what she says.
