I would like opinions on wheather to vaccinate or to not vaccinate. My daughter has already gotten her two month shots but I am not sure if I want her to get anymore. I would like to know pros and cons, and also why you chose to vaccinate or to not. Please HELP!

That is such a bunch of crap.   There is no medical evidence to show vaccines are harmful.   There is however a hell of a lot of evidence on the diseases they prevent.

It comes down to a simple decision.   Do you want to gamble with your child's life or not?

I vaccinate because I will not take those risks with my children.   Personally, I don't know how any mother could.

Here are some questions to answer for yourself in deciding about vaccination:

1. Name of the disease
2. Description of the disease
3. Length of time from initial infection to end of all symptoms
4. Infectious period
5. Normal symptoms of the disease
6. Known serious consequences of the disease
7. Proportion of persons infected developing serious consequences
8. Transmission route of the disease
9. Prevalence of the disease
10. Treatments of the disease and efficacy of those treatments
11. Relevant research about the disease
12. Name of the vaccine
13. Company that makes the vaccine
14. Contents of the vaccine
14A. The significance of whether or not the vaccine is live
15. History of development of the vaccine
16. Known side-effects of the vaccine and rate of incidence of those side-effects
17. Possible side-effects not yet acknowledged by the vaccine maker
18. Relevant research into the vaccine
19. How effective is the vaccine at preventing the disease?
20.What is the vaccine meant to do? (Many vaccines are not meant to prevent infection or transmission).
21.Number of cases reported each year.
22.Number of deaths reported each year from the vaccine and natural disease.

I am a huge advocate for vaccinating.  All 3 of my children are vaccinated.  They range in age from 5 to 17.  Not one of them has ever had any adverse effect from getting vaccinations.

Vaccinations protect your child from getting diseases that can have far reaching and dire consequences if contracted.  Vaccinations do not protect your child 100% from getting a disease, but if they still contract the disease, the likelihood that the sickness will be a much milder form is much greater.

I have greatly researched the pros and cons of vaccinating for various diseases and the valid, Scientific studies have led me to my conclusion that vaccinating is a GOOD thing.  There is so much misinformation out there designed to make parents fearful of vaccinations that show no Scientific validity that vaccinations do more harm than good.

I agree with this. I have a 12 year old and I have a 4 and a half month old and with everything going around, and the high exposure there is today as well as the strength of the different strains, I believe vaccinations are very important to get them when you are told to. Also...the schools are being pretty strict about it when your child is starting school, DayCare or Pre-School. Unless there has been a bad reaction or there is a medical reason for slowing it down, I would go with the recommended shot times. Better to get them done when they are young and don't remember the multiple shots quite as much as they do when they are older.

This is NOT just a simple yes or no type question! LOL!  I vaxed with all 3 of my kids, on schedule and had no problem.  And if given the choice I would do it again.  But this is a personal choice, like BF or FF.  I feel that childhood diseases are back on the rise and would not take the chance of losing my child to something that I could have prevented.

I have done a ton of research - medical books written by professionals, medical journals, actual statistics.   I do NOT take anything written on any blog as research.   What you have posted is rumors, theories, and scare-tactics.  Where is your proof?   Where is your actual research?  I listen to doctors not bloggers.

It amazes me how easily some people can be sucked into a conspiracy theory or rumor and actually be willing to hurt their children because of it.   Your sole responsibility on this planet is to ensure the safety of your children.  But when you start telling other people to follow your bad judgement that is pure arrogance and you should be ashamed.

If someone chooses to put their child at risk by not vaccinating that is their choice.  Whether for religious reasons or otherwise.  It does not sit well with me.  It hurts me to the very core that someone could take such a stupid risk wth their child.   But the sad fact is that people make decisions that dumb every day.  People choose to not buckle their kids in the car, to not put helmets on their kids when riding bikes, I have even seen infant carriers strapped to motorcycles and babies in smokey bars.   As a foster mother I see people do horrible horrible things to their children all the time.  It makes me sick and it makes me angry.

But to tell other people to follow in your footsteps takes that irresponsibility to a whole new level.  It should be criminal.  It is willful malicious conduct against innocent lives that can not defend themselves.

I will pray for your children, just as I pray for so many others.   I will pray that they are not held reponsibile for your actions.

I chose TO vaccinate for a very selfish reason.   I do not want my children to suffer.   I vaccinate SO my kids DO NOT get cripled, horrific pain, or die because of diseases that I can prevent.

I am very passionate about this so please please read why.   And please bear with me because it is a very raw emotion for me and I have been told I come accross as angry or B****y.  That is not my intent.   I just want everyone to get it.    I am sure I will get anti-vaccine drama galore.  I don't care.

But please read and then do the research yourself!

I took a medication when I was pregnant for pain.  Long story.  But I thought that hey, the doctor gave it to me so it must be safe to take.  I didn't even look it up.  My child was born and off he goes to the NICU for monitoring.  Thankfully he was fine.  But they scared the hell out me.  I thought everything was perfect and here was this perfect baby and then Bam the room was spinning and he litterally was taken out of my arms as my husband started screaming he would get a lawyer.  We were blindsided.   We were young and we didn't know better.

Or maybe we were just young and stupid.   Either way I vowed to never put my children in unnessassary risk.   And to never do anything medically (including taking medications) without every spec of research being done on my part.   I want to know every risk, side-effect, pro, con, ALL of it.

I read everything I could get both for and against vaccines.   I looked up statistics, read medical journals and research articles, I even went out to European research to see what they said.

I also read what the potential side effects could be.   Many people scream about autism.   In all my research I have not found a single link to autism from vaccines except one reference that has been discreditied.  Everyone on that side seems to say but look at the coincidence.  We put this chemical in the body and autism went up.    I came to some cold hard truths.   The people who get so upset about vaccines and autism either need someone to blame for autism, are so desperate to understand it that they would beleive anything, want to ban all chemicals and go totally organic everything, or are simply repeating what people before them have said.   Unfortunatly, this has been a combination of the "telephone game" -- remember when you whisper in someones ear and it just gets more screwed up the farther it goes.   Mixed with the fact that people can make a whole lot of money when people are scared.  There are alot of people are raking in a ton of money on this.

My conclusion about the autism aspect was this:   There is no way to prove it has a link.   We put a thousand chemicals in and around us every day and it could be any one of them.   (Though if you get a chance I do urge you to look up genetically modified food, hormones,  and research that food later)  Yes, I am saying that I beleive autism may potentially be linked to a chemical BUT I have not seen a single piece of evidence which links it to the vaccine chemicals.

Also, autism has been around for a long time if you pay attention to old writings, books, stories, ect.   It wasn't called that, but it was.   I am sure you have heard the phrase "deaf & dumb" & others.  There are also countless stories about babies & children being left to die throughout history because of something not right with them, posesed by the devil, ect.   And autism generally is accompanied by other medical conditions.  100 years ago a baby with a now common medical condition might not have had a chance.   My point is that knowing this is a possibility for a cause of autism long before vaccines leads me to beleive there are such gapping wholes to the autism issue that it is absurd to take it into consideration.

Never-the-less I did some research on autism just in case.  What I learned is that compared to these horrible diseases - autism is not that bad.   Let me clarify........  If it came down to it and I had to pick this horrible disease or autism I would take a child with autism in a heartbeat.   And again, I have not seen any hard evidence that there is any link in the first place.

Then came the actual preventable disease themselves.   I researched every single one of them in great detail.  I came to the conclusion that it absolutly without question was worth the risk for me that my children to get the vaccines.

I will include some links below.  I strongly urge you to look at them.  One mom once emailed me back and said that she couldn't look at them - she couldn't handle seeing that.   If you can't handle reading it or pictures of it then you certainly can not handle having your child suffer through it.

I pray you get your children vaccinated.  God bless you and your children!  Also, make sure you got your whooping cough one!

I vacinate. We are lucky to have these. So many diseases that kill children (especially children under age 2) are prevented by vacines. For me its worth it. I would hope that any children around my family are vacinated as well. This is because some of the diseases can be given to children too small to be vacinated for them. This can cause severe illness and even death. To me it is a no brainer.

My children won't have vaccines because they are too risky.     Health & safety are a priority so I want to avoid those.
GL to you!

I vaccinated my DD with all her so far except flu. All her vaccinations I just did cause that was what your supposed to do. Now I know more I am looking into the effectiveness and scientific evidence of how well each vaccine has worked. I looked up polio vaccine and was impressed by how in one yr polio cases were dramatically reduced. The flu vaccine not so much evidence so no there as of yet. The first post with the list was very good I thought.
