She shouldn't. After my last baby was born we went out for dinner when he was about 15hrs old.

they shouldn't unless they want to. I was out and about within a few days after having both of my babies. I saw no reason to just sit at home. I had things to do.

I have heard of keeping the baby at home, but not the mom.

In some cultures its a tradition type thing to stay in home for a certain amount of time after a baby. A long time ago women used to have a laying in period normally only two weeks where they would basicly stay in bed the whole time after a baby.

I've never heard that the woman has to stay inside. A lot of parents like to keep a new baby home for a couple of weeks or months before exposing them to strangers and their germs though.

You don't. The only thing is that you aren't supposed to drive for 2 weeks after (at least for me), but as long as someone else was doing the driving, you could go out when you wanted.

Because our grandmas didn't have technology and just assumed that was a safe route to take.

Why do all of the old wives tales say what they do? Shrug. Supposedly you are supposed to shave your daughter's head and slather it with baby oil so it grows in nice. Good thing most people don't put much stock in old wives tales.

Usually it is with a c-section.
