ECK! I get my four year old to stomp the crapola outta them. ECK!!
No, we don't vacuum them up. We're weird science people and so we catch the creepy things and look at them and them put them outside. DD really loves bugs so we use them as learning time. Anyway it's theoretically possible that they can crawl back out but with all of the other dirt in there, especially if you have pets and there is hair, they'd probably get pretty beaten up on the way in and then get tangled up in the dirt/hair. You could always just empty it outside after every time you vacuum if you're worried.

Years ago, when we lived in an apartment, they used to have routine spraying every so often and the guy from the pest control company told me it was the most effective way to dispose of them. No spider guts to clean up and they're not able to climb out.

I usually make a puddle around them with whatever aerosol stuff is close. Then take tons on paper towels to pick them up and flush them!!!
