My sons teacher wants me to start using positive terms when talking to my son so that would be keeping the words Stop, Dont, No etc out of my vocabulary. Example: Instead of saying "stop running" i would need to say "please walk" or instead of saying "stop jumping on the couch" say "please sit on the couch". I guess it helps the kids when you use more of a positive approach then using more negative terms. Does anyone do this and does it work better for your kid than using the word "no, stop and dont" all the time? They told me i kindof need to reprogram my brain to be able to this. I keep trying to do it but it just isnt working. I had a meeting with them today and it seems like my son listens to them way better.
