I'm going to have an abortion, and I was wondering if any of you have had one? Can you tell me what it was like?

I had one. I was 16, had a child already, didn't want and couldn't afford another one, and decided to abort. It was the best choice I could have made, and almost 10 years later, I have no regrets. It wasn't painful, I had some mild cramping and spotting for about two days afterwards, and that was it. The worst part of the whole thing was really having to go through those idiots outside who were protesting, having to listen to them beg for a child, and when I ignored them, being called  a murderer. My advice, go through the back, if they have one, or ask to be escorted in if there is a crowd.

I had one last aug. It wasnt painful i had very lil cramping n only bled a day. I had 5 births n my daughther died of SIDS 15 yrs ago. I had to make think of the pros n cons of havin the baby or not. My life wasnt good at that time n i had 4 other kids i had to worry bout so i disconnected myself from being pregant if that makes sense. I knew it was the right thing for everyone including myself. I dont reget it. I got my tubes tied in oct. U have to weigh out the pros n cons n what ur head thinks n ur heart feels

I had to have a d and c last september. The fetus passed away inside me; no more heartbeat, but i didn't pass it out. After 3 days they had to remove it--- it was my sons birthday weekend 2 parties) they had to go in and remove the fetus the monday after the weekend.
It wasnt painful. But, they did leave residue behind during the first surgery. I bled for 14 days before i had to have an additional surgery. I was anemic. It was horrible. My dr said it happens frequently...

In my personal opinion, abortion is murder, so I would say "Don't do it."

I understand that some women view abortion as their only option, and there are circumstances where it is (convenience and/or finances are not).  I would advise putting the baby up for adoption.  If you can find a couple who want a child, maybe you can get your prenatal care and the delivery, etc paid for.

That's just my opinion.  (((hugs)))

If you don't want to get bashed you probbly should remove this post. This is the internet and everyone is going to have their say. This is a very controversial subject and it's gonna get ugly.

I have had more than one when I was in my early twenties. there are various differnt types of abortion and types of sedation or local anesthetic. you will be instruced to not eat within a certain time of the procedure. I suggest choosing twilight sedation for better comfort for you. afterwards they will lead you to a recovery room and give you juice and crackers usually to help you wake up and recover fully. you will have some cramping and discomfort and bleeding for a  bit but nothing some motrin wont handle.

I was thinking that too, but its been four hours and nobody's been mean.

Op, the bleeding and cramping was the worst part for me. Not because it was that bad, but because it was a constant reminder. They both lasted almost a week for me. Make sure you eat afterwards. I didn't have much of an appetite and it just made me even more miserable. I hope you're okay.

I think they should rip out your uterus for being stupid enough to get knocked up instead of using BC like smart people.
