Go Green: Conserve Water!

Conserve Water!
Did you know that less than 1% of all the water on Earth can be used by people? Communities across the country are starting to face challenges in maintaining healthy and affordable water supplies; that's why it's more important than ever to use our water wisely and not waste it.

A typical household uses approximately 260 gallons of water every day. We can reduce this amount and save money by using water more efficiently -- detecting and fixing leaky faucets, installing high efficiency clothes washers and toilets, and watering the lawn and garden with the minimum amount of water needed.

Here are some simple ways to save water:

  • Repair leaky or dripping faucets and running toilets.
  • Consider taking showers rather than baths.
  • Use low-flow showerheads and toilets.
  • Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth or soaping up your hands.
  • Wash only full loads of dishes or laundry.
  • Use a programmable sprinkler system to water your lawn efficiently.

We all try to take quick showers, I always do full loads of laundry, we hardly ever use a sprinkler on our lawn.

turning off water at all times.   Our apartment complex owner i think changed all the toilets over to more efficient flows.  I only do laundry when we have a full load (saves on detergent and electricity as well).

I do as well, I have two, my yard is pretty big and I have a fairly decent sized garden.

We have found that filling a pitcher of water and putting it in the fridge helps us save water. We don't stand there waiting for the water to get cold enough to drink. And it has a brita filter so it saves bottles from the trash.

We also have a high efficency washer and dryer. The washer doesn't need as much water to wash clothing.

I only run the dishwasher/washer with full loads. We have low-flow showerheads and toilets. We only take showers. I hand water the lawn.

We conserve water by showering together and limiting toilet flushes.

Oh and strategically placing dishes in the dishwasher. Good thing I'm good at tetris.
