I had surgery 3 weeks ago and I was told after I was low on iron and needed to take it twice a day. I have been doing that and they re tested my blood and said I'm still really low on iron. What happens when your body doesn't respond to perscription iron pills? What do they do?

Not a doc or anything. But I am anemic too, I think it depends on how low your iron is. It might not be bad enough for them to do anything if it doesnt work

Have you tried eating foods high in iron along with iron supplements?

There are iron supplements that are non prescription that tend to work better than what is prescribed.  I use Shaklee vitamins and recommend it for my clients and they all respond very well.

When I was anemic I had to take iron 3 times a day and eat foods with iron. Peanuts spinach things like that.

When I was diagnosed with Anemia I took an iron pill.  I also was too low on my cholesterol.  My doctor stated to eat two eggs a day.  It worked for me.  I would ask your doctor what to do next.  You might have another issue.
