This question came to mind when I was thinking how to respond to another post. What is of highest priority in your child's schooling?

To get good enough grades to be able to get scholarships for college?

To be able to live in the world in an informed manner - won't be influenced by lies.

To be able to support themselves and a family.

To read well and to understand what is read.

To learn how to get along with people of varied backgrounds.

What do you want your child to gain by schooling?

To learn HOW to learn.

If they know HOW to learn something new, then whatever they need to do to support their family, or deal with other people of different backgrounds... they'll know what to do to learn that.
It's takes self-discipline, independence, and brain power.

This may be the most valuable thing I got from college, if I want to know something I know at least where to start looking.

I want critical thinkers. Thankfully, schools are coming around on that issue.  I also want my children to always use proper grammar.

I want my kids to learn that the horizon is endless. With this anything and everything is possible.

I think for me the ideal would be for them to learn to love learning.  If they love learning they will want to continue their education always by pursuing higher education, learning at future jobs, learning in life.

Socialization skills, coping with failure (if it occurs), learn its ok not to have all the answers. I expect them to learn from their mistakes and not drown just because 1 thing didn't go their way.

Yes!!! I am amazed when I hear news reporters using incorrect grammar. Of all people.
