HI! I am currently pregnant and my fiancee and i were considering cloth diapers... can some one tell me the pro and cons...
2 years of disposable diapers and wipes is estimated at around $1,500. I personally spent about $400 on cloth diapers and wipes (many people spend way less than that depending on the type and brand you use). Also, my utility bills did not go up from washing and drying the diapers.
Disposable diapers contain many chemicals- some cancer causing, that are banned in other countries:
The only con I can think of is daycare. MOST daycares have a problem with cloth diapers- some even lie and say it's against health code laws because they don't want to deal with them.
Also, there are many kids of cloth diapers out there now and there are places that will 'rent' you a selection so that you can see what kind you like best. Here is one: http://www.modernclothdiapers.com/newborndiaperrentals.html.
there's a cloth diapering board here, there's also a good one on babycenter and diaperswappers has some good info plus used diapers. I love fitted diapers and flats folded origami style with bummis lite covers.
