birthday party ideas

My son turned 1 on the 12 of this month, but i'm waiting for his dad to get home on the 5th of november to throw him a birthday party. Does anyone have any good idea for snacks (easy and affordable) to serve at the party? Or any other party ideas. I though a halloween themed perty would be cool since he's an october baby, but if anyone has anything better it would be helpful =P

My only suggestion for a one year old is to do a small "smash" cake, put a drop cloth or plastic down and a good bib on the baby, give to him and take a lot of pictures.

I like to keep things simple. I'd probably do cake, ice cream, coffee and milk.

Are you looking to do a whole meal or just some snacks?  For our oldest son's first birthday we did big Subway sandwiches and chips and such.  For our other sons' first birthdays we kept it simple and just did cake.

Maybe just simple like chips and dips, veggie trays, cheese and crackers, etc.
