My names Ashley I am 20 years old I am a mother of a beautiful baby boy named Wyatt he just turned 2 February 21st and acts a lot older. I love him with all my heart I am engaged to his father and have known him since first grade. But I wish I had sometime for just myself every once in a while I have only been away from my son for maybe a half hour my senior year for promenade to walk across stage and come home to him. Anybody have any tips on what to do for myself once in a while.

Do you have any hobbies? If he takes a nap, thats a good time to have some time to yourself, or after he goes to sleep. It will get better as he gets older.

Girl, you've got to take time for yourself.  That's not a selfish thing either...it's just necessity.  You'll find that if you do, you'll be a much better person all around.  If you don't, you could end up like many that eventually come to a breaking point.  You don't want that -- trust me!  I would recommend that you find a hobby or set up outings with friends.  Also, you can join a moms group like MOPS.  Working out, reading, shopping, or other changes of scenery can also be quite helpful.  Most important thing is that you figure out what works best for you and stick with it.  When momma is happy everyone is happy :)  Enjoy!

Lol. Welcome to motherhood!

Unless you have intense support- which most of us don't and THIS is your job anyway, enjoy the naps while you can, and bedtimes too.

It may be quite a while until are able to feel all free again.

Enjoy this time with him, you will get your own soon enough.  :)

I do agree with MOPS! Such a great way to combine being with your child and still getting something for you. There's lots of groups like that, gl mama!

I would try and do something while he naps. Whether it's crafts or taking a nap yourself. You need a break once in a while.

I'm right there with you... and a 3 mo to boot! :) (What were we thinking?? LOL)

Can some daddy time be arranged, where the boys go out and you stay in or vice versa? Also, at times I've invited another mom with a toddler over to my messy house - the kids play and we can just drink some hot chocolate and have an encouraging chat about life, all from the comfort of my own living room.

Welcome to the group!  I enjoy the nap times. My 15 month has never been away from me or my husband.

 Hi there and welcome :)

You could take a nice bubble bath to relax once he is in bed or curl up and read a good book. Is there someone who can give you a break for a while and watch him so you can take some "me" time?
