I was just wanting advice from other mothers on what they think the best way to handle a situtation with a 17 month old. For instance he will stand on his riding toy or touch stuff he shouldnt and i tell him no. He will then sometimes laugh and do it again and make sure im watching him. He just wont stop most times he just keeps it up laugh and saying no while doing it. So he knows hes not to be doing what hes doing. Whats the best way to handle the situtation? Spanking? Take the toy away? time out? suggestions please..

Shout at him, take him away from what he isn't supposed to be touching? If he doesn't stop, give him a time out?

take him away from the situation and the things hes touch. if he keeps going towards it spank him not hard but not to hard. if that doesnt help stick him in his crib cause i consider it as a time for my daughter.

Remove him from his toy, and redirect him. It does get old, but if you stick to it, it will work.

What I did at that age was put the toy in a time out for a day or two if they wouldnt stop. I usually only had to do this with a toy once or twice.

He's a BABY. Say "no" (kindly, firmly) and re-direct (as in, remove him from the situation). No punishing a baby.

I am a Home Schooling, Vaccinating, Non spanking, Nightmare Cuddling, Dessert Giving, Bedtime Kissing, Book Reading, Stay at Home Mom. I believe in the benefit of organized after school activities and nosy, involved parents. I believe in spoiling my children. I believe that I have seen the village and I do not want it anywhere near my children. Now for the controversial stuff:  we're Catholic, we're conservative, and we own guns (now there's no need to ask, lol).             Aimee

Give a ONE year old a time out? Seriously?

Take the toy away. Nothing else is going to work until he is like two.

My 19 month old was doing that crap. I would take him off and tell him no in a firm voice. If he did it again I would tell him no and give him two hard swats on his read end. Its funny how supposedly spanking doesn't work, he never did it again after that.

This!

That is what I do for my 15 month old. DO NOT spank him, or yell at him - and he's way too young for time outs.
