Niece Graduating High School

My oldest niece is graduating high school, we live locally but there was a falling out with my brother, his wife and the rest of the family and we haven't actually seen or spoken to any of them in over a year, maybe closer to 2. The falling out was between my brother and sister and their daughters and then my SIL wanted us to "pick a side" and said some nasty things about our mom. Anyway we were invited to graduation and a party but I feel awkward and don't know if it would be worse to skip it and just send her a card (which is what I have been doing for birthdays) or go and deal with whatever awkwardness there might be? Wondering if we were invited out of politeness or if we are really wanted there? What would you do?

I would go.  I don't understand family feuds.  Life is too short for feuds.

I would go. Your niece is the one the party is for and likely she wants you there. You are going to celebrate her and her accomplishments. If anything negative is said or started remind those doing so that you are there to celebrate her!

You should definitely go.  Even if bro and sil don't really want you there its not about them.  Its about your niece.  It will probably be awkward but just grin and bear it for her sake.  Even if you only stay for an hour she will appreciate it.
