Mom told me to date anybody.  This was awful advice. :(

My mil told me to let my babies CIO. We didn't listen. That is wrong to let a baby cry.

It depends on the mom! Usually they have tons of experience and can be a great resource!

Yes, and my girls that are in their 20's are finally figuring it out that dh and I were not as dumb as they thought we were.

I can't say I got any horrible advice from my Mom or my MIL.

I have never received any poor parenting advice from my MIL, she is awesome. My mother on the other hand, I wouldn't follow her advice even if she had some to give.

For the record... I'm their mother and know best. I don't want advice unless I ask for it.

My MIL likes to ride around with babies an no car seats. They live in a small country town but I still don't feel safe without my daughter in a car seat even if we are going around the block.

My mother on the other hand has too much "advice" to offer.

My mom told me once when I was picking up my daughter that "I saw she has a scab on her belly button so be extremely carefull it she scrapes the scab she can bleed to death"

Another one my mom said was after breastfeeding the first week you don't need to anymore because formula is healthier...
