I just CAN'T do this...

I am a full time student and I am currently taking 5 classes. One of which is introduction to Algebra. I HATE IT! I can do it in class. I can follow along and offer up answers to all the questions. But as soon as I even open my homework I cant remember ANYTHING. And forget about tests. I bombed my midterm and my last quiz. I was so excited when we started working on polynomials because I understood them. I knew every single answer in class. But I just opened up the practice midterm and everything I knew is gone. I cant remember it. WTF.

ETA...I have a quiz tomorrow and a take home test due next tuesday and another midterm next thursday. I am screwed.

I'm sorry :( I just started my algebra class last week. Algebra sucks. And I know what you mean. I do awesome and get on a roll and then bomb. Maybe over confidence does it to us? Do you have study materials to help?

I wish I could give you some advice but algebra is why I never finish college. Maybe talk with your teacher to see if they have any helpful hints.

Lame. Drop to a lower math for now. Or, does your school offer tutors?

Ugh. I have no advise but to keep practicing as soon as you get home from school. I was terrible at algebra & even had to hire a tutor in college.

Is your teacher teaching it different than the textbooks or are you just forgeting the formulas for solving the equations? If it's the formulas, see if the professor will allow cheat sheets for testing. If it's the teaching style, I would bring it up to the teacher and see if they can help you out.

I struggled with this too and these things helped me.

My DH is awesome at math so he has been working with me. I spent 3 hours making a cheat sheet last night and he let me use it today. I missed a few questions but I know I passed this one!
