I have treid everything possible...bribes...a phone call from Santa...just letting him sit there won't even work. He say he is scared. I know he has to eat...but I am lost for ideas.I don't want to take him to the hospital because he then may become more afraid to eat....please help.

Have you tried just offering popsicles or juice. As long as he stays hydrated he will o.k. When he gets hungry enough he will eat.

How old is he? If he is starting to have side effects from not eating, then maybe you should take him to the doctor. Or at least tell him if he doesn't eat that you will have no choice but to take him. See what he does then.

what about nutritional drinks as well , that might help him to get something good in him but i would also have a word with your doctor , he is too young not to eat for that length of time , it sounds like it's psycological why he wont eat cos he is afraid of being sick , have you explained he is all better now and wont be sick if he eats anything , i know you probabley have , good luck

I usually have my kids help me make something for them to eat.  They like to eat it more since they made it.  They are proud that thye made something so yummy.  Even if it is just putting some peanut butter on a cracker, really anything small is great.  Good Luck and keep trying.

I would try talking to him about why he needs to eat, and what will happen if he doesn't. Keep him hydrated with Pedialyte, but try to stay away from juices and soda. Those will only dehydrate him and make him lose even more energy. Try to get him to drink some PediaSure.. they are like meal drinks and will help. If it continues, I'd definitely make an appointment to see the doctor. It's better to get him treated early than for him to get so dehydrated he has to stay in the hospital for a few days.. with tubes and IVs and everything else in and out of him..

Sadie is right.  The sugar drinks will dehydrate him also mess with the sugar levels in his system.   Call your doctors office and let them know what is going on.  Good Luck!  It must of been very scary to him.  I hope he feels better very soon!

When my son was sick he had ear infection and he started throwing up and refused to eat I also know that he may not have signs of a sore throat but it sometimes don't show he could have that as well. That can cause a lot problems such as throwing up, not wanting to eat, no fever, tiredness and crankiness. I would take your child to the doctor to see what they say.
