PIOG---guardianship

My son is 17 and has Aspergers. He was due to graduate but during his last IEP meeting it was recommended he continue for one more year. He is not staying back, they are holding his diploma for one year. He can still walk with his classmates and do all the senior activities but they felt he needs to be placed into a program the state provides his in what to do next. He is smart but lacks common sense. He is mature in some levels but very immature in his thought process. The school recommende that we go for guardianship for a least one year. Has anyone done this, and if so what did  you write, it has to be done before the age of 18.

I think you should talk to an attorney. I would also Google for an Apergers/Autism support group where people may have some experience with this. I believe there is such a group on CafeMom.
