American lice are immune to poison.  So don't bother with insecticides.

Instead, use LiceMD and a comb to get out as much as you can.  Then, blow dry hair on cool, section by section, a half-hour every night for a week.  Repeat.

The warm air dessicates the lice and eggs, killing them.

We have not had to deal with this but I hope others can help. Good luck.

Okay, it's a process and a pain in the ass, but it works and I'll vouch for it! My former neighbor was a lice removal specialist. Her method was olive oil on the hair every night for a week. Have them put a shower cap on and sleep in it. Comb with a lice comb (best one is the Xterminator at Ulta) and then shampoo the oil out each morning. Then repeat this every other day for two weeks and you will eradicate them.

Both of my girls had it last year and I did this with both of them. It sucked, but it worked!

boil brushes, combs, etc. Wash all linens and dry them on hot, towels, etc. bag up stuffed toys for at least two weeks, vaccum everything and anything you can't wash.

as for the head.... after the shampoo,. I went through dd's hair strand by strand... I pulled out any hairs with nits on them, and I burned those suckers in a candle.  However, this was over 20 years ago...

When dad got it the salon told me to put mayo on her hair, heavily and cover with a shower cap for 1/2 hour. Then wash. It made a mess because the body heat made it runny but it worked perfect!

bag any stuffed animals in black garbage bags, wash all bedding , vacuum rugs treat hair I heard mayonnaise works with a plastic bag on top of ones head but I really dont know .. you have to go section by section to get every nit out then retreat do it again another two weeks

When my daughter was six she got head lice and the kit from the drugstore worked great.  You just have to remember to repeat the whole process a week  or two later.

The shampoo works. You just have to do it right. Leave it on for longer than it says. Like 20 min. Then comb it out very carefully with the comb. I always comb it again the next day. Wash everything in hot. Bag stuffed animals then treat with shampoo again 8 days later.
