Food to feed my baby?

I have three older kids that I never had a problem getting them to try foods and loving them all when they were babies.  I now have a 5 month old who I have tried a couple different times to get him to eat baby cereal and some baby food.  He gags as soon as the food touches his mouth.  He is not choking as the food doesn't even reach his throat.  I'm not sure where to go from here.  He is mostly breastfed but does have some formula at daycare because I can't pump enough.

At 5 months, he does not need food beyond breastmilk or formula. Forcing table food leads to obesity. Let him develop. First tastes after 6 months.

Food should not be given until at least 6 months. After that you can put a little bit of what you are having at meals on his high chair and let him feed himself

I wouldn't be feeding him at 5 months. He doesn't actually NEED food till a year so don't sweat it. :)

He is too young.  Don't try solids will 6 months.  Formula or breast milk is best right now.

Maybe he's just not ready. I think my dd was 1 before I tried anything like that.

He may not be ready. Some babies take a little longer to be ready for foods and at 5 months he's still pretty young. If he's older and still having the same issue, then I might worry.

He's probably a little young. Also both my babies had a pretty serious gag reflex when I intoduced solids. I found giving very little at first, like even just putting yogurt or cereal on your(clean) finger to get them used to the texture helped.

I agree! Stick with breast milk only for a while longer.:)
