Healthy 6 month old and Gatorade

After seeing first hand what "sugar type drinks" can do to a little ones mouth & teeth, I only would give this to a 6month old if they were sick, if it was the only thing their little stomach could keep down. I know how kids can get hooked on always expecting to get the sugary drinks when they're that young. My friend see's no problem giving Gatorade to her daughter who is 6months old. She thinks it's funny how wired up she gets and her friends think I'm nuts to even think that it might be wrong.

 Thoughts?

Water, Formula or Breastmilk is ALL my children every got especially that young.  They can not handle that in their systems and their bodies are not mature enough to digest that crap.

My kid didn't get a lot of sugary drinks either but I did give her juice occasionally.  She's never had a cavity and she is now 17 years old.

I would worry about kidney function over cavities.

Never. At that age my kids are still strictly nursing. My 9 year rarely gets juice.

Kids should never have gatorade.

My dd is two and just gets water or milk. Occasionally if I'm having juice or lemonade I will share with her, but I water it down a lot.

IMO you are right

For illness Gatrorade is not reccomended. Pedilyte or BREASTMILK in controlled amounts is what is suggested.

So expressed breastmilk in small doses spaced out is the BEST choice and pedilyte is second best for a vomiting child-no gatorade !
