Just found out today my dad has prostate cancer, he has to see a cancer specialist so we know how advanced it is and what his options are realistically. I can't cope, it's my daddy. How do I handle this?

This is difficult, but just take a breath. Don't  jump to conclusions and think that you've lost your father. Every man will get prostrate cancer if he lives long enough. Some just get it earlier than others. Many men get it and survive to live long lives. My father-in-law got it many years ago and lived another 30 years. And now there are so many more advances that prolong lives. Don't freak out. Just stay calm until you find out what his prognosis is. And be positive when you are with him, his attitude will be important, and you can help with that. I hope you have him with you a long time.

The C word is frightening. Prostate cancer is one of those that may be very slow growing, and there are treatments for it. Your dad is in my prayers.

Take a deep breath. Prostate cancer is not as scary as it seems. My dad was diagnosed with it a few years ago. One surgery, one round of meds (I don't even think it was chemo), and he's 100% cancer free.

You just handle it. I found put my mom had cancer when I was 15. She lived another 31 years after it spread 2 more times.
My dad died when I was 23 from a heart attack. Whatever comes our way, we cope.

Its hard to deal with a love one that is dealing with cancer. Just been there for him. Be strong because if he sees that you are being strong he knows he can and fight through it.
