Maternity Leave

Does anyone know how maternity leave works??? How much would I be expecting to get monthly when I am on Mat leave??? Anything would be helpful.  When I had my first daughter i didn't qualify for mat leave because I was in school as a full time student and not employed the entire time I was pregnant.  This time however, I am working and will qulaify but I really have no idea how it works.

p.s. I live in Canada (Saskatchewan) if that makes any difference.

well, companies are not required to pay maternity leave unless they are of a certain size.  My company is small, so they didn't have to give me any.  They gave my 6 weeks at my regular salary.

If I remember from all my research, Canada gives you 1 full year off with 66% of your pay.  I would google it and see what it says.  I'm in the US and they are not required to pay anything out here, which sucks.  Good luck!

I do know that we get one year of Maternity Leave.  And I know my employer pays 90% of  my salary minus weekly EI benefits for 26 weeks.  I guess I am just confused about the rest of the year and where and how much of that I get!!!

Here in NJ maternity leave is considered temporary disablilty and you are paid through the state. I believe it was about 80% of my regular salary. Every state is different.
