Seems to me like you were hoping they would give her drugs. WHY??? Why not try everything else....like what you were told? Have you even? It's not gonna be instant relief ya know. You have to keep on with it and eventually her cough will get better. Don't rely on medication when there are other means to treat it.

Try vicks on her feet covered in socks...it works great.

It sounds silly, but have you tried Vick's on the bottom of her feet (covered by socks)?  I've found with my son it really helps him out.  Could be just a very bad cold that has to run it course.  BUT is there any history of asthma in the family?  I know my son would ALWAYS have a really bad cough that lasted for days before/after his cold.  He was diagnosed with asthma.......

baby saline nose spray, soothing vapors plug in and boil water on stove, put in hot sauce, chili powder and lots of pepper and boil. its better than a vaporizer. At 22 months they dont recommend cough meds but there are some u can give depending on her weight and I would question asthma or allergies too. watch for fever she'll need to go back and be seen. If its a congested cough ask about liquid prednisone or albuterol if its not better after trying the basic things.

My first suggestion is find another doctor.

You can try either the Vick's Plug In's or the Pedicare Plug In's. I would also suggested using a cool mist humidifer. The air in her room may be dry and that may be causing the coughing issue.

Other than not I'm not sure what to tell you.

Good Luck and I hope your LO feels better soon.

You have GOT to be kidding?? Find another Dr bc hers is apparently against unnecessary medicating a 1 yr old?? Wow.

your doctor told you what you need to do... i know its hard.. but there really is no medication to give her.. my son has the same thing.. but we did buy him a cold mist humidifier, and OMGthat worked wonders, especially at night... im sorry you feel helpless.. but an anti biotic isnt going to help.. it will run its course and be gone.. i cleaned our house.. and use the humidifier, and he has improved... have you tried getting one? we found a little frog one at target... very nice..

You'll probably just have to ride it out; I'd becareful about Vicks on the feet of such a young child.

Sodium Ascorbate (Vit C) will help recovery but will not eliminate the cough.

Cool mist humidifiers are good as well.
