When I met my husband he had some roommates. In fact, the one that this is about is the one that introduced us. Well, the guy keeps having problems with the law. We had all our roommates move out right before my son was born. When the Sherriff showed up because he didn't show up for his court date (child support), I made it clear that he doesn't live here anymore. I gave them the last known address I had for him. Since then, I had heard that he moved out of state.
Yesterday, he recieves a letter from a local lawyer's office. I opened it because I suspected it was about a traffic ticket; I was right. Expired registration and no insurance. That means he's still in the state and using our address to cop-dodge. This isn't the sort of thing my son needs to grow up with; cops showing up every few months looking for this guy. If its not one thing, its another.
I would put in giant red ink on the outside of the mail that THIS PERSON NO LONGER LIVES HERE. Than drop it back in the mail. I would also call the dmv maybe and let them know maybe there is something they can do. As far as the cops, I have no idea what to do. My old neighbors were some real idiots, and the cops were at their house several times per week. I told my children we lived on the safest block in town the cops were always there!
