Size 2T versus 24 months

What is the difference between size 2T and size 24 months?  The charts in the stores usually show the same weight range for the sizes, so I was wondering if the difference might be with the cut.  Any ideas?

I believe 2T is a little wider cut.

I noticed that 24 months were wider in the waists. We could ONLY buy 2t because DD has such a tiny waist. I think 24 months are also a little shorter, another reason we couldn't buy them.

2T's are just a tad bit longer too.

I agree with other moms 2T are a little smaller in the waist and tend to be longer. Also 24 month almost always have an elastic waist as opposed to snaps and zipper which most 2T have.

I don't know! I was wondering this yesterday. I am trying to order DD an Elmo Bday shirt and I can only find it in sizes 2T and up. She is LITTLE and still wears mainly 18 mth tops. So I am afraid a 2T size is going to be too big? (the pictures they posted made the shirts seem short. Don't know if it is just cause it's a pic or what?)

This shirt is available in 18 mth, but it looks really short.....I don't know what size it is but if it is the 18 mth, I will get the 2T.

I would buy the 2t anyway in case it shrinks, because they always shrink up from the waist, and it really can't be too long to where it would look bad.

Thanks. That what I was thinking too. I would rather it be a bit too big than too small anyway. I guess it just helps hearing it from someone else! (BTW, does the shirt look short to you?)
