I hear people say all the time that they had back labor, but what does that mean?

I am curious because I never had back labor and this is my third child.  3 am this morning I woke up with sharp lower back pain (like right above my butt-crack and between my hipbones).  I've tried taking a bath, hubby rubbing my back, sitting, walking, laying on different sides and the backache won't go away.  I'm also getting really sweaty.  I have a prenantal appt early tomorrow morning I just wanted to ask you ladies until I can talk to the doc tomorrow'. p.s. I'm 38 weeks preggo

Has anyone had back labor? What does it feel like?  How long was it until you had the baby after the backache started?

I had back labor with my son. It hurt so bad. You feel all your contractions in your back unlike in your stomach. Everytime I had a contraction it was in my back. If you are 38wks pregnant you might not  make it to your due date. Have you had any other problems like contractions or anything?

I started to dialate two weeks ago and have had irregular front contractions since then.  Now It's all back pain.  I can't wait to go to the doctor

  • Yeah your gonna go early. Just remember Epidurals are good. I tried to let my contractions go for a while but couldnt because within a 7min period they were 1 to 2mns apart. So I had to have an epidural. But good luck.
