Have you heard of Jello Water for Diarrhea?

The kids spent the night at my mom last night and both seem to have a tummy bug. I am picking them up in 20 minutes (as soon as DH is out of the shower) and my mom says that my great-grandma lily swore by mixing 4oz jello with 1.5 cups water and giving it kids to bind them up. Have you heard of this?

Hmmm....I've never heard that. I don't know what in it would help the diarrhea. The water content might help keep them from getting dehydrated but I've read that sugary drinks can actually make diarrhea worse. Our pedi always reccommended pedialyte but I've yet to meet a kid that actually liked and would drink it....mine won't even eat the Pedialyte freezer pops. Pedi said the next best thing was gatorade as even though it has some sugar it also has electrolytes to replace what they lose through the diarrhea.

Yes!! Works for dehydration too. My sons doc told me that it works better than Pedialyte. It is the only way my son would eat jello.

My mom gives my son jello water for diarrhea. I thought she was crazy at first, but then one day we had to take my son to the ER. Turns out it was an ear infection--and on the discharge papers, it said if he had diarrhea to give him jello water.

I'm trying it also. Jello is really good for hair and nails.
