Halloween Candy

I'm sure we all check our kid's candy after they go out "trick or treating" and some may even have them x-rayed.  On the whole, not a bad idea.  We've heard the horror stories of children killed or hospitalized by poisoned Halloween candy and after reading and looking into it there was something that really shocked me.

EVERY CASE OF POISONED HALLOWEEN CANDY WERE DISCOVERED TO HAVE BEEN GIVEN TO THE CHILD BY ONE OF PARENTS!!!

Really!  Some did it for the insurance money or to get back at the other parent and so on.  What drives a parent to even do this to their own child?  I've never needed money that bad that killing a child is an option.  I just don't get it... Do You?  We live in such a paranoid society that we see the boogie man everywhere so we won't allow our children to leave our sides, leave our homes, etc.  Things like this only makes it worse!
