Anyone ever gone into early labor because of a prenatal massage?

My son is  1 1/2 now and is a perfectly healthy little boy.  He was born just over a month early though and it was just a few days after I had had a prenatal massage.  I was 33 weeks at the time and they said it was safe then, but I have heard people say they get those massages sometimes to try to go into labor and was wondering if that could have made me go into early labor?..just wondering if anyone else went into early labor because of one of these??

If anyone ever did, maybe you should talk to Audrey's Mommy! : )

my mom is a massage therapist and ive gotten massages throughout my pregnancies. There are accupressure points that can put you into labor, basically just start contractions, but most massage therapists are trained to not massage those areas. The main area is the feet and my mom would never even touch my feet for fear id go into labor. But if you have a trained Massage therapist and you want a prenatal massage its totally safe, just avoid areas around your ankles and your thumbs, and you should be fine.

awesome young navy wife and mom to bouncing mom crazy kiddos under 3 years old who will rear face until the limits of their seats cuz I know its 5x safer to rear face longer!

Aprevious poster was wanting to go into labor naturally instead of being induced next week, that's all...

from what i understand prenatal massages are perfectly fine all through your pregnancy, but there are some presssure points that need to be avioded at certain stages of pregnancy because it can trigger labor

So, if it was going to effect you, it would then, not a few days later?

I'm a massage Therapist and this seems to be a question that a lot of people ask all the time and people get confuse with, massage is pretty safe through pregnancy, it can only be dangerous if you had a history of miscarriages, or any serious health condition, even tough they are accupressure points and or reflexology points those really get trigger by putting pressure on them and waitng a few minutes, prenatal massage or swedish massage will not harm because you get long strokes and your therapist shouldn't be putting pressure for a minute or more on those points, even tought they are points around the ankles and lower back if its pretty safe to massage these areas, you just don't want a therapist working on those points by putting and holding with pressure specially if you have problems in pregnancy or a serious health condition. I'm pregnant with my second baby and have had not only massage but adjustments with chiropractor.

I am not sure if this would happen right away or a few days later. But the Massage therapist should know where to press and where not to. I know that you are not supposed to have your feet or ankles rubbed or your thumbs, but I am pretty sure there are some pressure points on your back that can cause contrations to start.

But I am really  not sure where. I had a massage about a month ago and it was awesome. She never came near my ankles and was really gentle. Never felt better.

However, with my son, who was a week and day late, I got my ankles and feet massaged on the day I was supposed to be due and still didnt come. Guess it all depends on how ready they are

I had the BEST massage when I was 8 1/2 months pregnant with our first. I looked like a beached whale on that table!!! It was great! I didn't have my son early!
