How much TV do you let your kids watch?

I don't like my SD's watch a lot of TV because the walk around like zombies of they do...I was curious how much TV other people let their kids watch? My SD's are 9 and almost 11. I also hate when my DH lets them watch bones,CSI and NCIS I don't think those shows are appropriate for their ages....since they are all about crimes and death. My DH thinks those shows are fine. What do you think?

my sons never watched alot of tv.Mostly when they watched it was a movie (disney) or sports.Once they hit age 6 the tv was off sun thru thursday nights. All thru school including HS.

My son never knew there were other channels then PBS until he was 5.

No way I would let my kidss watch those shows .they aren't for children IMHO.

Kiddo watches Mary Poppins 1-2 times a day and nothing else. He won't watch anything else.

we limit tv pretty strictly in our home...we didn't allow it at all for the kids until they were over 2 years old...after that they get to choose 2 shows per week...within limits and 30 min. total each...more often than not they forget to even ask if they can watch..i certainly don't remind them.  they are allowed the occasional movie or special holiday show as well...we bend the rules a bit if they are sick but that rarely happens either.  i don't like them just sitting there watching for long periods...i don't feel like most of the shows that are on are worth the time it takes to watch them...they don't miss it so i don't encourage it...we keep music on pretty much all day and personally i am not a fan of "background noise" my kids make enough noise as it is...

Same here, except the tv is either on in the living room or my bedroom. I recently took my son's out of his room as punishment and moved it to my room.

I have read about studies that have reported that leaving the TV on while children play or eat or even sleep is bad. The effects are astounding. ADD and many other developmental problems. Besides the fact the TV  reflects life in an unrealistic way.
