What should I do, strange call?

So I just checked my messages on my phone and have a message from a man named James Samual. He says that the message that I (he then says my full name) am about to recieve is extremely time sensitive and that if I or my lawyer do not call him in his division at 661-210-4685, Friday morning he is going to send two of his legal officers to my residence and they are going to escort me and my two references to the court house where I will face a big legal mess. But if I do not want to have to deal with the legal issue I must call him or have my lawyer call him. I don't even know who this person is and he doesn't really state who he is calling for or anything but I did try to call the number he gave but when I call it sounds like someone picks up but then I get a long beeping sound like a fax machine.

Sounds like a creepy sick joke, I would have a officer listen to it and give them the number.

Sounds like a scam to me.

I kept getting phone calls threatening legal action against me if I did not give the creditors my in-laws new phone number (they were declaring bankruptcy).  I would laugh at them and tell them they had no legal right to call me and if they continued I would sue them for harassment.  I never heard from them again.

Sounds "fishy". not sure what you could do?? Maybe call the phone company and do a reverse look-up on the number, or you local Police Dept. just a thought.....it would make me a little nervous!

Good luck :)

I am just worried, because we did file a bankruptcy and it got discharged in May. We had a problem right after it was discharged where one creditor wasn't notified about the bankruptcy properly and threatened to sue us. So I was just wondering if it was a threatening phone call, scam, or joke. I mean this man even stated that my references were my mother and sister in law and knew their name also and they don't even live in the same state as me. I also don't want police officers coming to pick me up on Friday morning, I live on a military base and it would just cause tons of problems for my husbands career.

They can't handle situations like that...the may know your name and what not, but it is just a threat...everything has to go through court...an officer can't just come to the door to arrest you because some wacko tells them to...lol

sometimes when you google someone, it will show you their relatives.

I just looked up the number and it is a scam...don't call it back and don't worry about it. I typed the number into Google and went to the first site it pulled up.

It is diffenatly a scam.  Even if you are being sued a police officer or someone would come to your house with a Legal summons to appear in court on such and such a day at a certian time.  I would report this scam to the athorities right away so they can try to find the creep.  To just come to your house and get you without legal notifcation is out of line.
