At what age did you switch your child from a crib to a toddler bed?

DD is 17 months and I'm in no rush to switch her out of the crib yet.

I was just wondering when did you decide to move your child to a toddler bed? I feel if I moved my daughter into one now, she would keep getting out of the bed or fall out. She likes to stand up in the crib and walk around it.

we go to a twin instead of a toddler. my daughter was 16 months and my son was 2

My daughter has autism but she can laugh, cry, and love just like yours. she may never dress herself but she can go to college and become a dr.  she may never make friends her own age but shes my friend for life. and please if u ever get the chance to meet my daughter, stop looking at her like shes a brat, she cant help her stairs or attitudes u can help urs. get to close u might get bit but it wont give u autism. do yourself a favor look it up.

We never used toddler beds.Mine boys went into twin beds. One side was up against the wall and the other side tucked in.I don't think they had side rails back then. My sons were 10 months and 23 months. The little guy was climbing out.So we decided this was best course of action. It onl;y took a couple of nights for them to stay in bed.

Surround yourself with people that add to your life not subtract from it.

Oldest I switched around a little over 2 as her baby sister was due when she was 2 years and 9 months.  She was fine.  I actually bought her a day bed, not a toddler bed.

My youngest moved to a toddler bed nearly at age 3.  We moved to Italy when she was 2 1/2 and they set the crib and toddler bed up when we moved and a few months later she went in the toddler bed fine.  She loved it.

My dd was 2 and my son has been in a toddler bed for about a month and a half or so and he just turned 16 mos.

I seriously thought he'd climb out constantly or fall out but he LOVES it! He has fallen out a time or two but I leave a couple of soft blankets next to the bed so and it's not a far fall at all. He usually just keeps right on sleeping (and he's a light sleeper). He doesn't really climb out either. He does mush better than I ever thought he would.

So if you think you might want to try I say go ahead. Your dd might surprise you. Go for a character one like the disney Princess or something. I got my son Cars and he'll get in bed just to gawk at the headboard. LMAO

I switched both of mine at 18 months.  They were climbers.

We went right to a twin with all 3 kids.  My oldest doesn't really count because he slept with me till he was two.  My daughter was 13 months and my youngest son was 14 months.   They did really well.

I've been wondering this too. My daughter is 19 months old. She hasn't even tried to climb out of her crib so I'm not in any rush either. I think instead of getting a toddler bed we're just going to get a twin size bed and put on side up against the wall and get a bed rail for the other side.

when my son started climbing out of the crib, around 2 yrs maybe 2 yr 3 mo. or something...i was afraid he was going to fall while climbing and hurt himself.

16 months.  DD had stopped sleeping through the night and was having bad sleep issues, so we decided to give her a big girl bed to get her more excited about going to sleep at night.  She loves it and is back sleeping through the night again.

ETA: she was never a climber in her crib, so that's not why we switched her.  She's fallen out of her toddler bed about 3 times, and that was during the first 2 nights she was in there.  When it's time to go to bed, she goes to sleep.  We keep her room dark, so even if she did get out of bed she couldn't see anything to play.  On the weekends we crack her door so she'll come into our room when she wakes up, but during the week we keep her door shut so she's not thinking she can get in the bed with us whenever she pleases.

I remember reading something somewhere that said when your infant gets to 36" you should switch to a toddler bed.  My son has alost reached that height so I figure I'll be doing that in a couple months.  My son is 16 months right now...  Who knows though.  I guess I'll just switch him into a toddler bed when I feel comfortable with the transition.
