Ask how old you LO is/was & when you tell them they say "O s/he looks older/younger".
I'm currently pregnant & took my 19 month old son to the OB with me yesterday. He's in less than the 5th %tile for his weight. Tall & skinny (I wish i had his metabolism). My OB asked how old he was I told her & she proceded to tell me that he looked like he was already 2 & then when he held his own sippy she thought that was amazing he could already do that. I'm just curious as to what you said/say to people who commented on your child looking either older or younger than what they were/are.

I get that a lot because my two older boys are tall -- people often think that they're older. I usually say something like, "oh really?" as if it's news to me. What's funny is that I don't really have a sense for whether other children look "big, small, or just right" for their age. And, instead of asking how old a baby is, I'll usually ask what the baby's name is instead.

i get that CONSTANTLY. my son is 14 months, my daughter just turned 4. my daughter is already 40 lbs and 3 feet and almost 7 inches. she wears a size 6 clothes and speaks and behaves very well for her age. my son is 24 lbs and 33 inches. he is in a size 24 month clothes. neither of them are chunky, but both of them are very tall. both of them have very mature looking faces too. it gets really frustrating, especially with my son, because people assume that he is older then what he is and dont understand why he isnt talking, or why he gets frustrated when he sees a snack at the store and cant have it, etc. i just always have to explain that my kids are younger then what people think. here is a pic of them so you can see how much more mature looking their faces are.

i am a proud mommy of 1 ornery 1 year old little boy and one very goofy 4 year old little girl, ive been married for 2 years, together for almost 5. fun loving, eco-friendly, creative, different strokes work for different folks, stay at home and work at home mommy!

She thought it was amazing that a 19 month old could hold a sippy? I assume he/she doesn't have children?
I smile and grit my teeth. Mostly because my oldest was a preemie and while he is healthy he's still had lots of problems and been to the hospital numerous times. I hear "stuff" all the time but to me the worst is when it's the hospital staff making comments about his size when they KNOW he was a preemie and that he's there for procedures that stem from his SIZE. I kinda wanna go "NO FREAKING DUH." But instead I just zip it and whine to SO later.

I get both reactions from people with dd. She has always done some things a little early...so I get the "oh, she's only 2?" but then she is tall and skinny and very girly so some people say she is "petite" which is actually short...and she's always been pretty tall...so maybe they just use the wrong word. lol
OK, so I'm just throwing this out there, I may have to find a new OB, not because of saying he looks younger etc. But because though I know it is not a requirement to know about toddlers as an OB but to be surprised that a 19 month old can hold a sippy cup??? Seriously? My daughter has held hers since 6 months when I first started trying one for her...you OB would have dropped to the floor LOL
People often think my 21 month old is older than she really is because she is fully potty trained (yes even through the night!) and speaks in 4-5 word sentences. That's funny she was amazed a 19 month old held a sippy cup most babies can do that from like 7-9 months!

I have to agree there. Both my 3 y/o daughter and my 7 month old son have had a sippy since they were 6 months old. My son only has a sippy for all his fomula - hasn't had a bottle in over a month, would have been sooner however, I wasn't sure what sippy I wanted to start him on. I can't believe your ob asked you that!?!?!?
