Tell me about them!! I have been curious about them since I heard about them and I want to know are they cheaper to use than the disposable diapers?

In the long run, yes. I've recently started researching because I am putting my next baby in cloth diapers and switching DD to cloth diapers at the same time, possibly earlier. To me, it seems like it would be more expensive in the beginning but then you don't have to keep buying diapers all the time since you're washing and reusing them.

Good luck with your decision and research!

Where do you buy your cloth diapers at?

I haven't yet. KMart has some and there's a group on here that has mamas who make and sell them if you're interested.

I might buy from them in the future, or from KMart, or a mix until I learn to make my own.

That sounds really neat! My youngest will be 2 in February so I won't be switching him I hope to potty train him soon. I want another baby though so I know I will use cloth diapers on the next one if I get enough info on them! I will have to look into them more! Thank you, you have been very helpful!

Also here is a link given to me by that group when I said I was interested in using them with my next child. It's a great site and I plan on using this site in the future too.

I have a blog about switching from sposies to cloth.  http://www.changediapers.blogspot.com  It's a work in progress, I'm planning to add picutres to make it more interesting!

I switched to cloth when DD#2 was 5 months old. I love them and never looked back. They can be pricey to buy new. If you don't mind used diapers, I've gotten some great deals on my local craigslist. There are some other cloth diaper groups here on CM and some of those moms make great diapers. Their prices are pretty good too.

I use onsize pocket diapers. I didn't want to keep buying new ones every time DD grew. One size diapers generally fit from 8lbs to potty training. I like the pockets because I can add extra inserts for night time use.

Washing isn't bad. I have about 18 or 20 diapers and I wash about every other day. Poop is no big deal, just flush away. If you breastfeed, until baby is on solid foods, poop just washes away when you launder your diapers.

I'm so glad I switched. I'm even using cloth wipes now. Saves so much $$ and is great for the environment. Besides, would you rather have your baby's bum sitting on paper all day or soft fuzzy fleece!!

Caroline has been in cloth since about 2 weeks old.  My mom insisted on buying us disposables so we used those up.  Anyway, we use prefolds and covers during the day and pockets with extra inserts at night.  It works for us!

I bought most of my prefolds and covers at www.greenmountaindiapers.com and they even have a section of information for those new to cloth.  Lots of great information!  Feel free to ask me if you have any questions - I can (hopefully) answer them or find someone that can!

i buy mine from different mamas on cafemom actually :) most of the prefolds you can find in stores suck terribly and turn people off of cloth b/c they think ALL cloth is like (gerber) the junk availible in stores (which is only burp cloth material in my mind)

there are a few brick-and-morter stores (i personally only have one near me) you can find 'good' cloth diapers at (but the commercial brands of cloth never worked for me, plus many are sized (meaning you have to buy different diapers as the baby is 10-20lb, 20-30lbs, etc))

I know the mamas i buy from which make me feel safer about buying fromthem

i use cheeky diapers for pockets, prefolds, and covers (all hers are one-sized)

i use ellabella bottoms, and roo bugs for fitteds (all theirs are one-sized)

i use fluffy butt club (FBC) for all-in-one diapers (hers are my ONLY sized diaper, but they rock!)

i also have bought prefolds from a diaper service i used before i knew what i know now :) (if you ARE buying prefolds and cover -which is the cheapest way to cloth diaper- make sure the prefolds you buy are DSQ: diaper service quality....means they'll be thicker and less likely to tear or shred quickly)

i buy my detergent for the diapers from lil outlaws, she has the cheapest price around and such amazing scents :) i love that my diapers smell like a candy cane :D also, her pail pardner is to-die-for and make mamas wonder how my diaper pails smelling so fabulous :D

LMK if you need anymore sites, i have tons for cheap diapers, i just prefer mine by these sellers after shopping around for a few months.....but everyone's different!
