Baby gnawing on crib!

Hi,

Last night my husband and I found tiny little teeth marks on the top of her crib.  I can't believe it!  Has anyone ever encountered this?  Not sure what to do besides dropping her crib down.  Ideas?  She's a year old.

My DS did that, to the point that there are actually parts of the wood missing. I think there are little plastic pieces you can put on the crib, but I just let him outgrow it. My DD didn't do it.

My son chewed on his crib to the point where the paint was gone, and it looked like a beaver was chewing on it.  We moved him into a toddler bed.

You really should get teether rails. They're plastic things that snap onto the crib side. It protects the crib and most importantly protects the baby. You never know what toxins are in that wood and you shouldn't take the chance.

Actually the top rail of a crib is referred to as a teething rail. Most babies do it. My DD has been doing it since she was 6 months old and started teething hard. (She's 15 months now) If you feel like your crib is toddler safe, then just let her do it. If you aren't sure your crib is safe, than you can get one of the rails. We just disinfect it once a week (doctor's suggestion) so that a lot of bacteria doesn't just sit there.
